# Windows startup

## Startup parameters

The application **Editran/PX** it is installed with a default configuration that sets the default operating parameters.\
However, this configuration can be customized by creating the following keys in the Windows registry entry `[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\editran\ediproxyserv]`:

| **Key**                   | **Type**   | **Description**                                                                                                  | **Allowed Values**                                                                              | **Default Value**         |
| ------------------------- | ---------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------- |
| **LogLevel** | REG\_DWORD | Detail level of the log messages generated by the application. |
1 : INFO
2 : TRACE
3 : DEBUG
    | 1 (INFO)                  |
| **TiempoComprobacionCfg** | REG\_DWORD | Time interval in minutes to check for changes in the configuration and apply them without restarting the system. |
0 : No automatic checking
>0 : Frequency in minutes
| 0 (No automatic checking) |
| **ComprobarDNS** | REG\_DWORD | Enables or disables the check for access to the name server. |
0 : Disabled
1 : Enabled
                            | 1 (enabled)               |

It is important to note the following:

* All REG\_DWORD values indicated in this table must be entered in **decimal**.\
  ![decimal](https://944169240-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F6Bgxolt1oQVu07Im3iZJ%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-a35b4a1770301f50117382d342e99f065ef75f60%2F02_decimal_dword.png?alt=media)
* If any key is not created in the Registry, **Editran/PX** it will use its default value.
* The value of the keys is applied during the startup of the Windows service **EditranPX**. Therefore, any modification made to them requires restarting the service for the changes to take effect.

### Tool to generate Windows Registry keys

During the installation of **Editran/PX** the registry keys associated with its configuration parameters are not created automatically, since they are only necessary when it is required to modify the default values.\
For these cases the file `WReg\EditranPXWow6432.reg`, which must be executed by double-clicking to start the automatic import of the entries into the Windows Registry.\
The fields defined in this file correspond to the default values used by **Editran/PX**, and their import creates the following key structure:

```
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\editran\ediproxyserv]
"TiempoComprobacionCfg"=dword:00000000
"NivelLog"=dword:00000001
"ComprobarDNS"=dword:00000001
```

Once the corresponding keys have been imported and created, their values can be modified manually from the Windows Registry Editor itself, adjusting each parameter according to the desired values.

## Startup and shutdown

Startup must be done from the Windows service **EditranPX**, with the necessary permissions. ![servicios](https://944169240-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F6Bgxolt1oQVu07Im3iZJ%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-694f010c83cd2f40df7bd9eb328e9d966a76fdda%2F01_servicios.png?alt=media)

> ℹ️*Note:* It is possible to start **Editran/PX** as a process from a command prompt (cmd) by running `ediproxyth.exe`. This latter option can be useful for carrying out a specific test or check.\
> In this case, the startup parameters must be defined as environment variables, using the same names as in the environment [Linux](/documentacion-editran/px-5.2.1-en/startup/linux_inicio.md).

> ℹ️*Note:* To be able to start **Editran/PX** it is necessary to have the [configuration](/documentacion-editran/px-5.2.1-en/configuration/configuracion.md) defined and have a [license](/documentacion-editran/px-5.2.1-en/installation/licencia.md) valid.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.editran.onesait.com/documentacion-editran/px-5.2.1-en/startup/windows_inicio.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
