# Linux update

## Requirements

To ensure the proper functioning of the system **Editran/PX**, the installation environment must meet the following requirements:

* On systems **Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 (RHEL 9)**: have version of **OpenSSL 3.5** provided by the operating system itself with all security updates applied.
* On systems **Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 (RHEL 8)**: have **OpenSSL version 1.1.1** installed.

## Update

* Stop **Editran/PX**.
* Make a backup copy of the directory of **Editran/PX** without deleting or moving the original folder. For example:

  ```bash
  cp -rp /opt/editranpx /opt/editranpx.v520
  ```
* Perform the software update following the instructions described in the section [installation](/documentacion-editran/px-5.2.1-en/installation/linux_instalacion.md)

  > ℹ️ *Note:* During the software update, you must select the same path where it is currently installed as the installation directory **Editran/PX** so that the update is applied to that installation.

Once the installation is complete:

* Review the environment variables defined in `<home-px>/EDItranPX`.
* If the original installation was configured to run **Editran/PX** as a service, you must review the configuration of the unit file located at `<home-px>/service/editranpx.service` and then reload that configuration.
* Follow the instructions regarding the resolution of third-party libraries, as described in the section *Dependencies* of the document [installation](/documentacion-editran/px-5.2.1-en/installation/linux_instalacion.md)

## License

It will not be necessary to request a new license file when the update of **Editran/PX** affects only the third version level (for example, moving from 52.1.0 to 52.1.2).\
However, any modification in the first two levels of the version numbering, such as an update from 52.0.x to 52.1.x, requires the request for a new [license](/documentacion-editran/px-5.2.1-en/installation/licencia.md).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.editran.onesait.com/documentacion-editran/px-5.2.1-en/installation/linux_actualizacion.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
