# Installation Guide

The procedure for the editran installation has the following steps:

1. We log in with user QSECOFR
2. Create the corresponding EDITRAN library

* Indra recommends keeping a backup copy of both the new version and the one being replaced
* It is recommended to use the library where the product is downloaded only once, in order to isolate its execution.

3. Take the content of the website, transfer it to the AS400, and download it into the created library.

      RSTLIB \*ALL ...................

4. Creation of the editran environment.

Run the CRTEDI531 program.

The following operations are performed automatically:

* Installation of a security code against product duplication.
* Creation of a Data Area for editran (EDITRANDT).
* Creation of the editran subsystem. POOLS (1 64096 6).
* Creation of a JOBQ - EDITAJQ.
* Creation of an OUTQ - EDITAOQ.
* Creation of the editran user profile.
* Creation of the EDITAJD JOBD

      PFTAI001

     PFTAMEST

     PFTAMTRA

     PFTAM008

     PFTAM700

and its routing entry.

* Creation of an EDITACLS class
* Creation of the data queues

      CFTAMEST

     CFTAM008

     CFTAMESTE

     CFTAMESTR

     COLATRA01

     CFTAI001

5. Profile configuration.

See: User Manual [Administration and operation](/documentacion-editran/ibm-editran-v5.3-iseries-en/administracion-y-operacion.md)

6. Installation check.

* Log out of the session and log in with the created editran user.
* Run the editran command.
* In the main menu, option 0 (START THE PROCESSES).
* View the active jobs (WRKACTJOB).
* The EDITRAN subsystem should appear supporting the jobs.

      PFTAMTRA    DEQW

      PFTAMEST     DEQW

      PFTAM008     DEQW

      PFTAM700     DLYW

      PFTAI001        DEQW

      PGIGASER      DEQW

      RETENEDI      DLYW

The management of editran TCP/IP transmissions is handled by two new processes that are submitted in the subsystem when, at application startup, a session with TCP/IP connection type is detected.

These processes are:

1. PFTAMTCP: Network manager. It handles all port management, also servicing editran core requests.
2. PFTAM100IP: editran core. It exclusively handles TCP/IP transmissions.
3. PFTAM100PX: editran core. It exclusively handles PROXY transmissions

Status of the Editran TCP/IP Processes.

The SELW status of process PFTAMTCP indicates that the initial thread of the job is in the function of selecting (select) a socket

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.editran.onesait.com/documentacion-editran/ibm-editran-v5.3-iseries-en/instalacion/installation-guide.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
