# Configuration of the certificate revocation status inquiry

The use of the revocados.properties file, located in the conf folder, makes it possible to expand the places where the revocation status of certificates can be checked, beyond the information provided by the certificate itself. This feature has been implemented in order to make use of those certificates that do not provide such information in a self-sufficient way, for example, when they include the CRL list name but not the address where it can be queried.

The contents of the file may have as many blocks as the following one as necessary:

ca.name.0=CA Name

ldap.0=

ocsp.0=

crl.0.0=

crl.0.1=

crl.0.2=

In the “ca.name.n=” entry, a keyword should be written that identifies all certificates issued by the same CA and that appears both in the DN of the issuer of the signing certificate and in all the DNs of the certificates in its certification path, for example “FMNT”, “DNIE”, “SWIFT”, etc.

In the “ocsp.0=” entry, the URL address for connecting to the OCSP server should be written, for example <http://ocsp.dnie.es>.

In the “ldap.0=” entry, the LDAP address for connecting to the server should be written. If that information is already included in the certificate, it is not necessary to specify it.

In the “crl.0.n=” entries, as many as necessary for each CA will be referenced; addresses where the CRL list can be consulted will be indicated, and even simply the names of the CRLs; in this case, the list must be downloaded into the crl subfolder.

The query is made first at the location indicated by the certificate itself. If the information is not self-sufficient and the search cannot be carried out, then the list downloaded in the crl folder is searched for. If it is not there either, the search continues in the places indicated in revocados.properties, in the same order in which the entries for the corresponding CA appear (according to the example, it would first search in ocsp.0, then in crl.0.0, crl.0.1, etc.).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.editran.onesait.com/documentacion-editran/ibm-editran-v5.3-iseries-en/editran-ff/configuration-of-editran-xades/configuration-of-the-certificate-revocation-status-inquiry.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
