# Trace inquiry

To query the Trace records, option 2 is selected. To perform a General query, no data needs to be entered. If any of the fields LOCAL CODE (if it is blank, it uses the general local environment), REMOTE CODE and/or APPLICATION and/or DATE and/or TIME is filled in, a Specific query is performed for one or more sessions only, at a specific date and time. The screen from which the Trace query is selected is as follows.

In the general query, the following screen is displayed:

On this screen, we can select the session we want to query

The query begins by showing the first recorded entries. To retrieve more records, the keys \<PF3> are used to exit, \<ENTER> or \<PF8> to move forward, and \<PF7> to move back. Whether the query is General or Specific, it is displayed on a screen like the following.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.editran.onesait.com/documentacion-editran/ibm-editran-v5.3-iseries-en/administracion-y-operacion/navigation-between-screens/main-menu/activity-control/file-inquiry/trace-inquiry.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
