# TCP/IP resources

The TCP/IP configuration files of the installation will be modified to include the connection to the application. TCPIP.PROFILE and TCPIP.DATA will be created or modified, and a TCP region accessible from IMS will be enabled.

## TCPIP.PROFILE file <a href="#toc8985272" id="toc8985272"></a>

Optionally, the Editran port can be reserved for exclusive use using the PORT macro. To do this, the job name of the Listener, started using the ZTBPJLIS JCL, is assigned to the Editran port (usually 7777). This allows no other application to listen on that port.

```
PORT
7777 TCP KI1056EI            ; IMS Socket
```

## TCPIP.DATA file <a href="#toc8985273" id="toc8985273"></a>

The name of the TCP/IP address space startup procedure can be taken to include it in the Editran environment profile as TCP/IP REGION and in the Listener configuration file as TCPNAME. In this case, the TCP processes run on that IP stack. If nothing is specified, each TCP process would run on the IP stack that would correspond by default to that region (SYSTCPD entry). In any case, the Listener and the Client-Server must run on the same IP stack.

```
TCPIPJOBNAME TCPIPB2
## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.
Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:
```
GET https://docs.editran.onesait.com/documentacion-editran/ibm-editran-v5.3-ims-en/tcp-ims-documentacion-tecnica/recursos-tcp-ip.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```
`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.
The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.
Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
