# CICS Version

## Definitions <a href="#toc303675272" id="toc303675272"></a>

To make the definitions, see [TCP,](https://gitlab.devops.onesait.com/onesait/disruptors/ecosystems-editran/editran-documentation/-/blob/public/IBM/5.3/zOS/proxy/definiciones-y-cambios-os-390-z-os/broken-reference/README.md) except:

Definition of the EZACONFG file. When defining the listener, SECEXIT = EDITR-PR will be specified, so that it is known that this listener will handle this type of connection. If Editran/TCP is available, another listener will be defined (associated with another port and another transid with the same program), with SECEXIT = Editran

In CICS, in addition to all the Editran/TCP/IP programs, programs ZTBPO203 and ZTBPOTPR must also be defined.

In the session log, the type of connection is indicated (Y = Editran/proxy). If the remote side does not have Editran/PX, its profile connection type will be I (IP). If the remote side also has an Editran/PX, both ends are coded Y. The local PX lines and the remote IP lines are also indicated.

## Trace query <a href="#toc303675274" id="toc303675274"></a>

A network message protocol has been implemented that is easily interpretable due to its similarity to X25, with call request X0B, acceptance X0F and release X13. The socket is the CICS task number and the LU is the local or remote port (depending on whether it is an incoming or outgoing call). An x20 message is included to display errors (see the log with cause-diagnosis. The documentation on ERRNO, RETCODE and error messages in TCPCICS, provided by the macros used for EXTENDED SOCKETS, is available in appendix C of the IBM TCP/IP for MVS manual. CICS TCP/IP Socket Interface Guide and Reference. Document Number SC31-7131-03. Program number 5655 HAL. File Number S370/4300/30xx-50. See also Document Number: SC31-8518-00. If the corresponding errno does not appear, the error may be OS390 V2R5 OPEN EDITION, so it comes in F1AF9000 IP Planning and Migration Guide

The meaning of the previous trace is as follows, for example, for the marked message:

1. In the S and Comment columns appears an incoming message (E) and it is an x’0B’ message (call indication).
2. In the NSM/LU column appears the remote port (3827).
3. In the Comment column appears a cvc, x’00FD’ or 253 in decimal, which is actually the CICS task number (transid ZTBB) that handles the connection indication. It is important to note that if within a very short time said number jumps by very large amounts, we will find that CICS is heavily loaded (it is running many tasks simultaneously). If problems are detected in CICS, check the local environment (number of connections per listener), the parameterization of the CICS to VTAM definition, specifically the EAS parameter (number of communications active simultaneously), and the relationship of the Tclass parameters of the transactions with the CMXT parameter of the SIT (the transid can be assigned to a class, and in the SIT the number of transid of each class is limited. In the SIT there is the MXT parameter to indicate the number of CICS transid.
4. In some cases, a few digits appear, which correspond to the CNID (application identifier, in case of call request, so that it returns the same in accepted call.
5. Other message types are x’0F’ (call accepted), x’13’ (release) and x’20’ (error), in addition to x’0B’ itself, which, if S makes sense, means call request.
6. In the case of Editran/Proxy the message key is ETT.

If we select the previous message (expanded trace), we see the full content of the incoming call (among other things the previously described fields x’0B’ appear):

* x’C5E3E340’ is the ‘ETT ‘ key.
* X’0B’ indicates call request.
* X’0EF3’ is the Editran/PROXY port of Windows-Unix (3827).
* X’00FD’ is the task number identifier (253).
* X’E8’ indicates the connection type (Y).
* X’0F’ is the user data length (15)
* X’C0....0A’ are the x25 user data.
* X’F1F7....F6’ is the Editran/PROXY IP of Windows-Unix (172.022.164.076)
* X’1E69’ is the remote port (7779)
* X’D6E2F3F0F0C2’, in EBCDIC OS390B is the DNS associated with the final IP (remote).

If we press PF2, the message is displayed in text format and also information is included about the real processing time (it does not have to be the same as the trace time) and about the length of the processed message (it does not have to be the same as the one on the network).

For more detailed INDRA traces, code operating system = EDPR, operating-system version = spaces or MULT, and Maximum-cvcs-Number = 999. In this case, TS queue ZTBPEDPR (MULT) or TS queues ZTBH+(HHMMSS, minutes, seconds) (spaces) are created, with data about network writes and reads, to be analyzed by INDRA.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.editran.onesait.com/documentacion-editran/ibm-editran-v5.3-comun-z-os-en/proxy/definiciones-y-cambios-os-390-z-os/version-cics.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
