# Introduction

The objective of the Monitoring and Statistics subsystem is to facilitate the detection of problems that cause the interruption of the normal progression of the editran platform processes in each of the phases of data submission and transmission, as well as to obtain information about incidents that, without causing the interruption of the processes, delay them or cause undesired effects. In addition, information is collected on the amount of data and the processing to which they are subjected before and after transmission.

The aim is not to obtain exhaustive information about all the steps through which a session passes — for this, the trace and log queries of editran/P and the Editran/G log already exist — but rather to obtain a list of interrupted sessions in order to take rapid action on them and to correct the incidents detected in successful transmissions so as to fine-tune their operation even further.

This document describes the handling and the possibilities the subsystem offers to the user.

There are two ways to obtain information about the status of the sessions: the online query mode through a transaction executed in teleprocessing and the batch mode through listings and the processing of a file with the data resulting from session activity.

To view the online graphical interface, see [Statistics and Monitoring ](/documentacion-editran/ibm-editran-v5.3-cics-en/operacion/statistics-and-monitoring-editran-ea-optional-module.md)or [Alarm Control and Management.](/documentacion-editran/ibm-editran-v5.3-cics-en/operacion/alarm-control-and-management-editran-ea-optional-module.md)

On the other hand, the statistics system includes alarm management.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.editran.onesait.com/documentacion-editran/ibm-editran-v5.3-cics-en/statistics-and-monitoring/introduction.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
