# Introduction

This document details the specific elements of editran in its zOS/CICS version, which must be defined in zOS and CICS.

It should be noted that for some parameters reference values are given, and it is the responsibility of each user installation to specify the most suitable values according to different criteria (specific products, volume of concurrent transactions, CICS version, buffer length, buffer pool sizes, etc.).

As an example, the INDRA versions of the different products used for the development of editran are indicated below:

The host version of editran V5.3 has been developed in the following environment:&#x20;

<table data-header-hidden><thead><tr><th valign="top"></th><th valign="top"></th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td valign="top">Product</td><td valign="top">Version</td></tr><tr><td valign="top">zOS</td><td valign="top">2.4</td></tr><tr><td valign="top">CICS</td><td valign="top">TS 5.3</td></tr><tr><td valign="top">JAVA</td><td valign="top">1.8.0_64</td></tr></tbody></table>

It is known that the host version of editran V5.3 works correctly in the following environments, which are higher than the ones developed:&#x20;

| Product | Version    |
| ------- | ---------- |
| zOS     | 3.1        |
| CICS    | TS 6.2     |
| JAVA    | 1.8.0\_101 |

Editran has a modular architecture, to which licenses for different modules can be added. Their features and use are:&#x20;

| Functionality | Local License (product) | Requirements and/or other local licenses | License at the remote entity |

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.editran.onesait.com/documentacion-editran/ibm-editran-v5.3-cics-en/installation/introduction.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
