# Introduction

This document is intended to be an abbreviated guide that helps locate the various points to take into account when installing editran. It only presents the basic model for processing the information received, since multiple variants can be established from it.

It is recommended to perform two operations that will not be taken into account in this manual:

* If a reinstallation is to be performed (version or phase update), first make a backup of the editran files and libraries.
* Perform tests in another CICS before moving to production.

In editran, most resources have a standard nomenclature, for example in the string ZTxyz\*:

* The character x indicates the version. For 5.0, 5.1, 5.2 and 5.3, x=B (ZTB\*).
* The character e indicates the product being referred to. The values of y can be, among others: P=editran/P, G=editran/G, E=editran/E, T=editran/TR, L=License, M=Migration, S=Cryptography, etc.
* The character z indicates the type of resource. The values of y can be, among others: F=File, B=batch program, P=online program, M=Map, C=Copy, I=Include, J=JCL, P=Procedure, Q=TS queue, etc.

ℹ️In this document, reference is normally made to ZTB\* (v5.3).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.editran.onesait.com/documentacion-editran/ibm-editran-v5.3-cics-en/download-cics-version/introduction.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
