# Batch Profile Manager

The number of existing sessions in the profiles makes a tool necessary to make modifications to some parameters of the sessions contained in those files, so that groups of sessions can be modified according to a selection criterion chosen by the user. Likewise, the same issue arises with additions.

The user will ultimately be responsible for entering the correct values in the input data to maintain the consistency of the parameters in the profiles file.

It will also be taken into account that a profile modification cannot be concurrent with another, since the files are defined with SHR (2,3) and cannot be opened for modification by two processes simultaneously. In the case of the editran/P profiles, it will be necessary to close the file to CICS in order to execute the process.

There will be two add-modification processes, one for the editran/P profiles file and one for the editran/G profiles. Both are related, since modifying one of them may entail modifying the other.

⚠️ In any case, we recommend that rather than using these JCL options, you perform the modifications generically from the graphical interface. These batch managers have not been maintained since the abbreviated add function of the graphical interface was enabled.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.editran.onesait.com/documentacion-editran/ibm-editran-v5.3-cics-en/batch-profile-manager.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
