# Discard

From the option **Discard**, users with the administrator role and signature controller, signature controller and signer, provided they have the necessary permission, can withdraw a file from the signature flow, either temporarily (to recover it later) or permanently (to delete it permanently).

![Botón Descartar](https://1190478111-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FzO0mk2eo5LONjICfqrP8%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-eec2c7c00a35a525d78180f7e21a555287ccc46a%2F06_boton_descartar.png?alt=media) ![Ventana Descartar](https://1190478111-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FzO0mk2eo5LONjICfqrP8%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-3e476dd0fab05ab1a2906456f25cfe3b0dd072fa%2F07_ventana_descartar.png?alt=media) When you select **Discard the file**, it is possible to determine the date on which the file should return to the signature flow. In this way, the system will take care of performing that task on the indicated date and time.

While a file is discarded, it is not possible to sign it and none of its possible signers will find it in the state `Pending signature`. Files can be withdrawn at any point in the cycle while any signatures remain to be completed. However, once the file reaches all the required signatures, it is no longer possible to discard it.

In the file list, a discarded file is identified with the icon ![Icono fichero descartado](https://1190478111-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FzO0mk2eo5LONjICfqrP8%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-0a8b89c0f0eecc69b95ae0aae7ff952f48416294%2F08_icono_descartado.png?alt=media).

📌 **Things to keep in mind**

> If a file is deleted, it is permanently erased from the system and cannot be recovered.

> A file can be deleted when it has not yet received any signatures, or when the only signature it has received is that of the person who is going to delete it; that is, it is not possible to delete a file that has already received signatures from other users.

The discard operation is audited in the **Activity log** signature.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.editran.onesait.com/documentacion-editran/connect-v3.1-en/firma/firmadeficheros/detallefichero/descartar.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
