# File group

## Definition

A *file group* in Connect is the set of parameters that fully defines a signing rule for a certain batch of files: what has to be signed, how, who, and how many must do it. As many can be established *file groups* for the same set of files as necessary and, as will be seen, these may be more generic or more restrictive depending on the number and type of parameters used in the configuration.

## File group menu

The menu **File group** is accessible when the license includes the signing module.

It can be accessed by users with the signing administrator role or administrator and signing controller.

The buttons **Sign** and **Verify** in the upper-right corner allow you to select the purpose of the *file groups* to be listed.

From this menu:

* The *file groups* (or signing rules) necessary for signing documents or for verifying received signatures.
* The *file groups* already created ones can be consulted, modified, cloned, deleted, exported, and imported.
* The list of **Activity log** signature.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.editran.onesait.com/documentacion-editran/connect-v3.1-en/firma/administracionconnectfirma/grupoficheros.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
