# Application categories

The master of **Application categories** allows you to logically organize transmission channels using tags that group their purposes or functionalities. This categorization facilitates filtering, searching, and the consistent assignment of specific configurations to different types of data or processes.

## Overview

![Application categories master](https://64653979-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FvdpBggYaSLH9X3nOAiMG%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-c5e09420374908311facfbb0cf45c121ea844a83%2F01_categorias_de_aplicacion_tabla.png?alt=media)

The main screen displays a table with the configured categories. Each row shows:

* **Category name**: Title of the category (e.g. `CICOS`, `Factoring`).
* **Description**: Explanation of its purpose (e.g. `Insurance`, `Treasury`).

In addition, action icons are included in each row:

* ✏️ Edit: Allows you to modify the category data.
* 🗑️ Delete: Removes the category (if it is not in use).

A search field allows you to filter the list dynamically, and the button `Add category` opens the form to create a new one.

## Add or edit a category

When creating or editing a category, a form with support for two languages (Spanish and English) is displayed:

### Spanish

* **Category name** (*required*): Title that will be shown in Spanish.
* **Description** (*required*): Functional explanation of the category.

### English

* **Category name**: English version of the title.
* **Description**: Functional explanation in English.

After completing the form, you can:

* Save the category with the button `Save`.
* Cancel the operation with the button `Cancel`.

> ℹ️ Note: Categories can later be used to segment channel configuration, applying common criteria to multiple transmissions.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.editran.onesait.com/documentacion-editran/connect-v2.1-en/operacion/configuracion_local/categorias_aplicacion.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
