# Getting Started on Windows

> ⚠️ **Important:**\
> To carry out this process you will need to have:
>
> * The file of **license** (.dat)
> * The **license code**
>
> Both will be provided to you by the **Editran Support team**. Make sure you have them before you begin.

After completing the installation of Editran Connect and CoreConnect, it is necessary to perform a series of initial steps to validate the license, configure the environment and set up the operating system. The process is detailed below with visual support.

## 📋 Process summary

In this guide we will complete the initial configuration of Editran Connect, including:

* Registration of company information (local environment)
* Creation of the first user with global administration permissions
* Assignment of the local environment code
* Starting the Core service to enable operations

This process must be performed after finishing the installation of Editran CoreConnect and Editran Connect.

## 1. Uploading the license

When starting the system for the first time, it will be necessary to upload the license file provided by the support team.

## 2. Activating the license service

Once the license is uploaded, the corresponding service must be started to validate its contents.

## 9. Local configuration

In this step the **local environment code**is defined, a unique label that identifies this instance of Editran Connect within the ecosystem of environments it can communicate with (for example, in send and receive scenarios between offices, suppliers, etc.).

### Access to the menu

From the main interface, access the local configuration menu:

![Local configuration menu](https://64653979-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FvdpBggYaSLH9X3nOAiMG%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-d7d5e0abe190a830cd1f6df208951a70dd67c94d%2F10_conf-local-menu.png?alt=media)

### Assignment of the local code

Enter an **identifier code** for this installation. This value must be unique within your work network and follow, if applicable, the nomenclature defined by your organization (for example: `MADRID01`, `CENTRAL`, `FINANCE01`).

![Local code 1](https://64653979-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FvdpBggYaSLH9X3nOAiMG%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-c7366aaa5d6c5c3f05b6eda6dcc30821803e93c6%2F11_conf-local_cod-local-01.png?alt=media)

Confirm the configuration by clicking **Save** or the corresponding button to apply the changes:

![Local code 2](https://64653979-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FvdpBggYaSLH9X3nOAiMG%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-8d10085fa039b649e69cac0977e916334702aa67%2F12_conf-local_cod-local-02.png?alt=media)

> ℹ️ **Note**: This code will be used by other nodes to identify and communicate with this installation. Incorrect configuration could prevent the operation of exchange flows.

***

## 10. Starting the Core Base service

Finally, ensure that the Core Base service is active.

![Start Core Base](https://64653979-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FvdpBggYaSLH9X3nOAiMG%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-a2e865240ed867420be29f82e85ea04c27da4791%2F13_conf-local_arrancar-servicio-core-base.png?alt=media)

Once these steps are completed, Editran Connect will be ready for use. It is recommended to review the **Daily operation** section to learn how to interact with the platform in real environments.

## ✅ What next?

Once this initial configuration is complete, Editran Connect is ready to operate.\
The next step is to configure the **remotes** with which this instance will communicate, as well as define the **exchange channels** for sending and receiving files.

See the **Configuration of remotes and channels** section to continue with the full integration of your environment.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.editran.onesait.com/documentacion-editran/connect-v2.1-en/instalacion/windows-conf-inicial.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
