# IP addresses

The IP address configuration in Editran Connect allows you to define both the local IPs associated with the node and the IPs that will be used as proxies for transmissions. This configuration is essential to ensure proper connectivity between nodes and guarantee service availability.

## Overview

The screen for **IP Addresses** is divided into two main sections:

* **Local IP Addresses**
* **Proxy IP Addresses**

## Local IP Addresses

This section shows a table with the IPs configured on the local node, including:

* **IP Address**: local host address (for example, `127.0.0.1`).
* **Port**: configured listening port (for example, `7777`).

Each entry can be:

* **Edited** using the pencil icon ✏️.
* **Deleted** using the trash icon 🗑️.

To add a new local IP, click the link `+ Add IP address`, which enables a new inline form with the fields:

* `IP Address`
* `Port`

Once the data has been entered, you can confirm with the save icon 💾 or cancel with the delete icon 🗑️.

## Proxy IP Addresses

In this section, the IPs that will act as proxies for the node are configured. These are used in those channels that require communication through an intermediary.

To add a proxy IP:

![New Proxy](https://1386330368-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F2jqgE5yyM3S58JKHROiz%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-da1f9fc4dee2f1706145593143ce906eb989ba68%2F02_nuevo_proxy.png?alt=media)

1. Click `+ Add proxy`.
2. Enter:
   * IP address.
   * Port.
3. Save with the 💾 icon or cancel with 🗑️.

Each proxy added appears listed in the same way as the local IPs and can be deleted when it is no longer needed.

> ℹ️ Note: Deleting an IP address (local or proxy) that is being used by a transmission channel may leave that channel inoperable. Always check dependencies before deleting configured addresses.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.editran.onesait.com/documentacion-editran/connect-3.2-en/operacion/configuracion_local/direcciones_ip.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
