# RSA keys

RSA key management in Editran Connect allows you to create, view, modify, and delete cryptographic keys associated with local codes. These keys are used to encrypt and sign communications in the channels configured in the system.

## Access to key management

From the screen **Local codes**, the button `View RSA keys` takes the user to the view of **RSA Keys**, where all existing keys associated with the different registered local codes are listed.

## Main view of RSA keys

This screen shows a table with the existing keys. Each entry includes:

* **Identifier**: Unique code for the key.
* **Key name**: Assigned descriptive name.
* **Active version**: Currently used version number.

In addition, there is the button `New key` to create a new entry, and a context menu (`⋮`) for each key that offers two options:

* `Manage key`
* `Delete`

## Create a new RSA key

By clicking on `New key`, a form opens where the following fields must be completed:

* **Local name** (*required*): Local code to which the key will be associated.
* **Length** (*required*): Key size in bits (for example, 2048 or 4096).
* **Identifier** (*required*): Unique identifier of the key.
* **Key name**: Descriptive name of the key.
* **Description**: Explanatory text to make identification easier.

Once the form is completed, the key can be saved with the button `Save` or canceled with `Cancel`.

## Manage an existing key

When selecting `Manage key` in the context menu, a detailed view divided into two tabs is accessed:

### Key data

The following fields are displayed:

* **Key name**
* **Local name**
* **Identifier**
* **Description**

In addition, you can:

* Edit the basic data.
* Delete the key with `Delete key`.
* Create a new version of the key using the button `New version`.

### Active version information

It is shown in the "Latest version" section:

* **Length**
* **Creation date**
* **End date** (if applicable)

> ⚠️ Important: A key can only be deleted if it is not associated with any contact or channel. The system will inform the user if there are active associations that prevent its deletion.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.editran.onesait.com/documentacion-editran/connect-3.2-en/operacion/configuracion_local/claves_rsa.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
