# Withdraw

From the option **Withdraw**, users with the administrator and signature controller role, signature controller and signer, provided they have the necessary permission, can take a file out of the signature workflow, either temporarily (to recover it later) or permanently (to delete it permanently).

When selected **Withdraw the file**, it is possible to set the date on which the file should return to the signature workflow. In this case, the system is responsible for carrying out this task on the indicated date and time. If no recovery date and time is specified, the file remains withdrawn until a user with the corresponding permission manually recovers it.

While a file is withdrawn, it cannot be signed and none of its possible signers will find it in the state `Pending signature`. Files can be withdrawn at any time in the cycle as long as any of the signatures are still pending. However, once the file has reached all the necessary signatures, it is no longer possible to withdraw it.

In the file list, a withdrawn file is identified with the icon ![Icono fichero retirado](https://1386330368-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F2jqgE5yyM3S58JKHROiz%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-0a8b89c0f0eecc69b95ae0aae7ff952f48416294%2F08_icono_retirado.png?alt=media).

📌 **Note**

> If a file is deleted, it is permanently removed from the system and cannot be recovered. If a file is deleted, all its associated signatures are also deleted.

The withdraw operation is audited in the **Activity log** of signing.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.editran.onesait.com/documentacion-editran/connect-3.2-en/firma/firmadeficheros/detallefichero/retirar.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
